7 Career Assessments to Take When You Feel Stuck

A phase is ending, and so I have been thinking about my life. I am at a point that I am not sure I am entirely happy in the different parts of my life, especially in my career. Doing a search on “Personal Development” on Pinterest, I found the Wheel of Life. This is where you look at the different life categories that complete you. After doing a few assessments, I realized that I need to get on improving some of my life categories, mainly career.

My Organizational Behavior Professor talked about personality tests that help you in all parts of your life. Also, what your potential can be. If you are also stuck, you should take some or all of these I have listed below.

Ikigai Test

The first test I did was the Ikigai Test. Ikigai means a “reason for being.” I found that I am in the profession that I am happiest in, so that made me feel good. If you want to do yours, check it out here: http://ikigaitest.com/en/

Color Personality Test

This is another one I got from my professor. It tells you what color you are and what you are active in. You can pay $49 if you want a “legit” one or you can take a free one here: https://365tests.com/personality-tests/free-color-personality-test/

DISC

I took this as my previous company, and it really helped me see the kind of person I was on. It also helped to understand my colleagues and that sometimes it’s good to work with people who are not similar to you. Find it here: https://www.123test.com/disc-personality-test/

When I took it, I was in the Dominance area leaning a bit to the Influence.

Big Five Personality Test

My last MBA class was on Organizational Behavior. During this class, the professor gave us numerous personality tests to take. The first of these was the Big Five Personality Test. If you want to take it, you can here:
https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/IPIP-BFFM/

I really need to work on my negative outlook on life. I wonder if Factor II changes depending on how you are emotionally doing when you take it.

PANAS Scale

Panas, which means Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, helps you see how positive and negative you are feeling in the state you want to test at. I found the test here:
https://www.toolshero.com/psychology/personal-happiness/panas-scale/
Currently, I’m in the middle. Positive – 31 and Negative – 37

New General Self-Efficacy Scale

The New General Self-Efficacy Scale Test helps you see if you feel you can achieve your goals even if there are difficulties. It’s a scale from 1 (Strongly Disagree) to 5 (Strongly Agree). You can find it here:
http://sparqtools.org/mobility-measure/new-general-self-efficacy-scale/#all-survey-questions

  1. I will be able to achieve most of the goals that I set for myself. – 5
  2. When facing difficult tasks, I am certain that I will accomplish them. – 4
  3. In general, I think that I can obtain outcomes that are important to me.
    – 4
  4. I believe I can succeed at most any endeavor to which I set my mind.
    – 4
  5. I will be able to successfully overcome many challenges.
    – 5
  6. I am confident that I can perform effectively on many different tasks.
    – 5
  7. Compared to other people, I can do most tasks very well.
    – 5
  8. Even when things are tough, I can perform quite well.

The Holland Occupational Themes

I was able to take this test when I took the Ikigai, but here is one with just a list: https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/RIASEC/

I really hope these help you as they helped me. Please let me know of any personality tests that you have taken in the past that I didn’t mention.
