I have always been a huge proponent of working fro I have always been a huge proponent of working from home. Before I started working from home over ten years ago, I dreamed of the day that I could. Now, I am not sure I would have it any other way.

The Future Forum’s Remote Employee Experience Index just released some research from knowledge workers in the United States, UK, France, Germany, Japan, and Australia.

I’m not surprised by the results. Check out the rest of the report (link in bio).

Here’s the shortest explanation of how I got to Here’s the shortest explanation of how I got to where I am today:

I started working as a Technical Support Representative for Errol’s Internet (remember them!) back in the late 1990s. It made me realize that I wanted to be in IT and that I did not want to work at a job where I felt watched and did not have any flexibility with my schedule.

I continued in Help Desk until I got my bachelor’s degree in English. I had two babies to support, so I worked full time and went to school full time. I would tell myself tons of mantras when I felt exhausted and that I couldn’t do it anymore. It was also hard because everyone thought I wasted my time because what could I do with that degree? I found a book that had a bunch of job positions I could find with an English degree, and Technical Writer appealed to me the most. It was mainly because I could still work in IT.

I worked in several IT consulting companies. I decided to pivot and become a Business Analyst because I liked that I was part of a solution's design and development. One day my Project Manager told me that he had nominated to take over his spot when he left in two weeks. I was nervous and scared. Could I really become a Project Manager? I knew it came without a lot of responsibilities because I wasn’t an individual contributor anymore. I would also be helping others in their career path.

Years later, and now I’M HERE. I’m glad that I got into Management. I’m still learning (I never will stop) to become a great leader.

Pretty cool, huh? I would love to hear about your career journey because everyone’s is so different and interesting.

Thursday got you down? Here's something that helps me: Putting my phone on Do Not Disturb and playing with the baby until he's ready for bedtime.

Spending the time after a grueling day at work with loved ones always makes it much better. In case you needed an extra boost, I'm sending good vibes your way today and always! What's something that makes even the most terrible Thursdays better for you?

I do see that at work when I am more assertive, I do get more respect from the men in my company than when I am unsure of myself. However, I am not sure if it's closing the gender gap as much as what researchers found. However, it could be that I am living in my head and the reality is that it is.

Let me know your thoughts on the findings.
