I read a personal finance book called “I Will Teach You How to be Rich” by Ramit Sethi a few years ago that had one of the best advice I ever read. The author stated to choose one or two areas that you love, and if you feel like spoiling yourself, let it just be in these areas. I have linked the below. I can’t recommend it enough:

For me, it is my home and travel. I love renovating and decorating my house. My home is my safe haven, and I want to feel happy, comfortable, and secure in it. Therefore, any time I save on anything, it’s between my house and traveling.

Today the teens and I went to the Home and Remodeling Show at the Dulles Expo. It was nice walking around getting inspiration for future things to do to the house. I also made an appointment to get a roof assessment.

We also saw these amazing mud mats. They were a bit expensive, but we were amazed at how they really captured the mud. This was especially true after complaining about how much mud and dirt our German Shepherd is tracking in.

There were beautiful water fountains that I could see doing in the future in the backyard.

Home design shows are great ways to get inspired on what you can do to make your dream home. If you already know what project you want to do next, you can talk to different companies. You can even make appointments with a few to come by and provide you estimates. If there is one coming up, and you are trying to get ideas, you should go check it out.
