In the past few years, I have gained weight that I need to shed.  When I was younger, I could easily lose any weight that I gained.  However, this all changed when I hit 36.  I think increased stress and a longer commute also contributed to the weight gain.  This year I am focused on losing 30 pounds. My biggest obstacle is myself.  I have said it before that I have no willpower when it comes to food.  Therefore, this is something that I am aware of and will work on not overeating.  I will update my progress here.  These are the things I am doing to keep making progress.

Pinterest Board

I created a Pinterest Board that has exercises that I can do at the gym or at home. I also post inspirational quotes that keep me focused on my goal. If you have a similar board, please share with me.

My Gym’s App

I have a membership with 24-Hour Fitness. They have a great app that I use to check out classes that I want to take. The app also has workouts that you can do at the gym or at home. If you are part of a gym, check out to see if they have a similar app.

YouTube

There are some great trainers on YouTube. HASFit and GymRa are my favorite, but try and find some that will get you excited to keep moving.

MyFitnessPal

Having a food diary that connects to my FitBit, my gym app, iHealth is great because everything is synced together. It’s even better when you have friends along for the journey. This has made me realize that I am overeating at times, and my macronutrients are a bit off. Please add me if you have MyFitnessPal. My name is “dcfemella.”

My FitBit

I posted about my FitBit in a previous post. Having one has really helped. There are others out there like Garmin, Apple Watch, etc. so check out the one that makes sense for you. Also, if you don’t want to wear a fitness tracker, you can always use your smartphone. It won’t track things automatically, but it gets the job done.

There are other tools that I want to eventually use. Creating a separate Instagram and posting your progress seems to help some people. I am pretty shy, so I am still debating if it’s something that I should do. It has helped a lot of people lose weight, so I probably have to tell myself to get over it and do it.

I’m also considering doing a 30-day challenge of some sort. If anyone has any good ones, please post in the comments below.

I’m not doing any specific diet because I want to do more of a lifestyle change. I know that restricting so much out of my diet is not something that I can do for the rest of my life.

Valentine’s Day is coming so I will have to give myself pep talks to stay away from the chocolate.
